The Axencia para a Calidade do Sistema Universitario de Galicia (ACSUG) (Agency for Quality Assurance in the Galician University System) was legally established in 2001 as a consortium between the Regional Government of Galicia and the three Galician universities.
The fundamental mission of ACSUG is to contribute to improving the quality, prestige and recognition of the Galician University System in Spain, Europe and worldwide. ACSUG takes actions of drafting reports, evaluation, certification and accreditation about the activities of the Galician universities, especially in the fields of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and management.
Since 2009, ACSUG has been a full member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and since 2010 it has been included also in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR). Besides this, from 2013, ACSUG has taken part in the European Consortium for Accreditation in higher education (ECA). During this time, ACSUG has been actively participating in the activities carried out by these associations: surveys, publications, seminars, working groups, etc, and in other international projects such as two Tempus Projects with Central Asia or international accreditations in Peru.
