We are saddened and concerned by the situation in Ukraine. The ECA stands with our colleagues, students, and institutions, and expresses deepest solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
The ECA’s fundaments are established on the strong European values of pursuit of peace, rule of law and democracy, which should never be violated. These unprecedented times require us to be even more connected and committed to a common goal – finding a peaceful solution as soon as possible.
Following the Common declaration of the Bologna Follow-up Group, dated on 7th of March, and the decisions taken by EQAR, the ECA will not initiate any contact with any central government agency of the Russian Federation for the time of the invasion; the same applies to any other country that actively supports the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
In addition, the ECA would like to encourage members and observers:
- To take on the similar actions in pursuing ways to express solidarity and support to Ukrainian institutions, students, staff, and refugees;
- To ensure that their collaborations are based on shared European values.
