ECA has participated in a workshop in Taipei in the framework of the INQAAHE funded capacity building project “Comparisons of QA systems, review standards and procedures and transparency in Taiwan and Indonesia: Capacity building for Mutual Recognition of Joint Programmes”. Partners of the project are HEEACT (Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan), BAN-PT (National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (NAAHE) from Indonesia and ECA.

The discussions were mainly focused on the comparison of the higher education systems of Taiwan and Indonesia and the way both agencies approach their external quality assurance activities. In addition, the perspectives of the Department of International and Cross-strait Education of the Ministry of Education of Taiwan and of two institutions (National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Asia University) were shared regarding internationalisation initiatives and the specific connections between Indonesia and Taiwan.

ECA was represented by Board Member Eva Fernandez de Labastida from Unibasq (Spain). Eva gave a presentation on “The Global Trends in Quality Assurance of Cross Border Higher Education and Mutual Recognition: European Experiences”.
