The Arab Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ANQAHE) was established in 2007. The aim of ANQAHE is to ensure and strengthen quality assurance in higher education of the Arab region. To reach this aim ANQAHE engages in cooperation with similar organisations in the Arab region and other international networks. As ECA also aims to cooperate with regional networks, and as some member agencies are increasingly becoming active in the Arab region, ECA felt that it was timely to engage in a cooperation effort with ANQAHE. As a consequence the MOC ANQAHE-ECA was signed on 1 June 2017.
