Agency's position within the national higher education system

Description of the agency

Polish Accreditation Committee is the only statutory body entrusted with the responsibility of evaluating the quality of higher education in Poland, its opinions and resolutions have a legally binding effect.

The history of the agency

Polish Accreditation Committee was established by the Act of 20th July 2001, amending the existing Higher Education Act as a Polish State Accreditation Committee. The Law on Higher Education, adopted by the Parliament on 27 July 2005, redefined the objectives of the Committee and the amendment to the Act adopted on
