Formalisation of the ECA secretariat agreement

It has been formalized the agreement between ECA and ACSUCYL to assume the Secretariat of the Association. This agreement was signed by the Chair of the ECA Board, Maciej Markowski, and the director of ACSUCYL, José Ángel Domínguez.

During the next two years ACSUCYL will assume this function with Sandra Marcos as coordinator.

New ECA Secretariat

After having hosted the ECA Secretariat since the start of ECA in 2003 the NVAO informed the ECA members last year that it was time for another ECA member agency to take up this responsibility. The General Meeting of ECA decided on 19 February 2019 that from 1st July 2019 the ECA Secretariat will be hosted by ACSUCYL with Sandra Marcos as Coordinator.

Mark Frederiks and Monique Knoester from NVAO would like to express their gratitude to the ECA members, board, observers, experts, project partners and stakeholders for the many years of successful and pleasant cooperation. We wish ACSUCYL much success with providing the Secretariat as a valuable service to its members.

CeQuInt presentations

On 15 September 2017 Eugenia Llamas (EIVP) and Hendrik Jan Hobbes (Nuffic) presented the ECA Certificate for Quality in Internationalisation (CeQuInt) and a plan from Nuffic to adapt their MINT-tool to CeQuInt at the EAIE conference in Seville. 140 people attended the session.

At the annual rector’s conference of the Association of Swedish Higher Education in Stockholm the national strategy on internationalisation was the major theme. ECA Coordinator Mark Frederiks presented CeQuInt. 29 out of 73 representatives of Swedish HEIs voted that they would be interested for their instituton to take part in CeQuInt. The CeQuInt Guide and Templates updated

ECA’s CeQuInt Guide for Quality in Internationalisation and the templates for self-evaluation reports on programme and institutional level have been updated. Some mistakes and references to an outdated framework have been removed.

The CeQuInt Frameworks itself have been unchanged. All essential CeQuInt documents can be found here.

ECA Certification Group is installed

ECA has installed its Certification Group – which ensures overall consistency for the implementation of the ECA Certificate for Quality in Internationalisation by a system of qualitative evaluations of the applied methodology, i.e. assessment procedures and reports.

This Certification Group includes representatives of agencies with relevant expertise in the assessment of internationalisation.

The Certificate is organised as a service by ECA and its members, the quality assurance agencies. The Terms of Reference (ToR) are the formal agreement on how to organise and award the Certificate. It lays down all the responsibilities and methodological issues not included in the Frameworks for the Assessment of Quality in Internationalisation.
