Cross-border higher education (sometimes also called transnational education or TNE) is an increasingly important phenomenon in Europe. Some higher education institutions are considering to set up a foreign campus abroad, others are confronted in their homeland with competition from foreign institutions. This poses many questions, such as: how can the quality of cross-border provision be assured; can the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance be applied; is current national legislation sufficiently adapted to the rise of cross-border higher education? These and other relevant questions regarding the quality assurance of cross-border higher education have been dealt with in a half-day ECA seminar hosted by NVAO on 15th December in the Kurhaus in The Hague.
This seminar was preceded by a seminar on the ECA Certificate for Quality in Internationalisation and followed by ECA meetings. Please see below for the links to the presentations and pictures taken during these seminars.
The recordings of the QA of Cross-Border Higher Education Seminar and of a conservation with Laura Rumbley (Boston College) on internationalisation of higher education can be found on ECA’s YouTube channel (ECAHE).
