The National Accreditation System of Higher Education (SINAES) of Costa Rica enters the Multilateral Agreement on the Mutual Recognition of Accreditation Results regarding Joint Programmes (MULTRA).

On 19 March 2014 in San José (Costa Rica) Sonia Marta Mora, the President of SINAES, with Rolf Heusser the Chairperson of ECA as witness of honour, signed the

Thus Costa Rica becomes the second Latin American country to be part of this multilateral agreement, which now includes 13 quality assurance agencies. The MULTRA covers agencies from the following countries: Austria, Belgium (Flanders), Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia and Spain.

The purpose of the MULTRA is to simply the accreditation of joint programmes by mutually recognising the results of accreditation of joint programmes in an increasing number of countries.
